Dr. Elizabeth Disney (she/her) is a licensed psychologist in Maryland with more than twenty years of experience providing therapy to adults. Dr. Disney’s specialties include anxiety, depression, recovery from alcohol and substance use, self-esteem issues, and relationship issues. Dr. Disney also takes pride in being an ally of the LGBTQ+ community.
Dr. Disney earned her doctorate (Ph.D.) at the University of Minnesota before returning to her Maryland home. She has been part-time adjunct faculty at the
Johns Hopkins School of Medicine since 2011, which has added to her expertise in working with clients who are also themselves healthcare professionals.
Dr. Disney enjoys providing therapy services that help everyone feel supported, empowered, and respected. She believes that this world is a complicated and often difficult place, where many people experience discouragement, oppression and trauma, but one in which therapy can play a positive role in strengthening individuals to build better lives. She uses a variety of approaches to therapy, including cognitive-behavioral therapies (CBT), such as ACT and mindfulness, as well as EMDR and psychodynamic/interpersonal approaches. Most importantly, she believes therapy provides an opportunity to move towards your best life.
