Dr. Sally Mays is a licensed psychologist in the state of Maryland. She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. She completed her post-doctoral training at the counseling center at Loyola University Maryland. She sees individuals (adolescents, emerging adults, and adults) and families for therapy and has expertise in treating anxiety, depression, and relationship concerns as well as many other mental health issues. Dr. Mays also conducts comprehensive psychoeducational and emotional assessments. She employs a therapeutic approach that is tailored to the presenting concern, goals, and personality of each individual client, but often employs a cognitive-behavioral approach that also takes into account the importance of interpersonal relationships and functioning. Dr. Mays focuses on providing a safe and supportive environment and works to help clients identify and reach their own goals with respect for their unique circumstances, cultural background, and beliefs. She believes that choosing therapy is an act of hope and courage that reflects an individual’s innate capacity to grow.
