Dr. Kristen Izant (she/her/hers) is a licensed clinical psychologist in Maryland, who provides individual and group therapy. She earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PhD) from Clark University in Worcester, MA. Dr. Izant completed her predoctoral internship in clinical and community psychology through the Yale Department of Psychiatry. She then pursued specialized post-doctoral training in the treatment of serious mental illness at the Washington DC VA Medical Center. Dr. Izant has extensive experience providing strengths-based, recovery-oriented care in both inpatient and outpatient settings for adults coping with significant mental health challenges. She has developed expertise in the treatment of psychosis, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and trauma.
Dr. Izant has an integrative approach to therapy that incorporates evidence-based practice to best address individuals’ goals. She is trained in cognitive-behavioral and exposure-based therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Dr. Izant cares deeply about affirming individuals’ unique identities, and acknowledges the impact of oppression and discrimination on emotional well-being. She meets individuals with respect and compassion, and strives to create a safe space in which to have authentic conversations
